Tibi Meets DVF

A few inspirations as of late... some ideal for work, others for music festivals coming up, garden parties and the like... I will start by saying I am panting/drooling over the Tibi shoes up top. The thin lines whisper feminine, while bright colors and patterns speak fun and sexy. Great for work, or after-hours fashion statement. You can also see that I'm feeling the best-selling Maja Dress with bold, orange print per Diane von Furstenberg... such elegant flows to these dresses. Enjoy!

Swim Times, Part Cinque

Today, I bring you the suits. Except the one DVF Coverup I came across - and just couldn't deny as much as I tried to ignore. The first images pictured above are exactly what you'd expect from J.Crew - cute and classy. The apple print is almost too cute, and I like that the wires give those of us who aren't as well endowed in the ta ta arena, a little support and boost. I generally like a little ruffle in swimwear, all relative to size and placement, and J.Crew's respective choices for the ruffles here bode well with me. We then move down to Trina's swimwear, also what you'd expect - bright colors and prints with a touch of "bling" (my favorite). Continuing on down, I'm actually pretty much panting and drooling over here for the Lilly Pulitzer "Turquoise Coral Me Crazy" bikini.... two of the greatest colors one could pair. The lines on the peach/coral ViX suit are flattering with light scrunching in all the right places. And our final tops are really here as staples of my style - stripes and animal print.

Up next: hats. Cheers! xx

DVF Spring Color

I love everything about this - the mint, the neutrals (grey & nude), the animal print clutch and the perfectly sized white belt.

Geometric Glam

Diane von Furstenberg

A Tale of Two Cities? Hamlet? Cinches. I made my 8th grade language teacher proud. My 8th grade Algebra teacher, however, probably looked at me the same way I look at Sarah Palin. So, when 9th grade rolled around and Geometry was the new math, lending a hand to the "left side of the brain people," I totally got it. Just like I get these geometric prints.

Triangle + skinny rectangle + fat rectangle + skinny rectangle + Triangle = Genius. The great thing about big, bold, geometric figures is that you have the ability to re-create your own figure in a sense. Placed appropriately, it can create an optical illusion of wider shoulders, a smaller waist or flatter your hips (provided you don't have a Project Runway scrub throwing something together). To me, the key is keeping your color palette simple with these prints: maximum of three colors. Otherwise, you get a little overwhelmed.
