Neon, Neon

The only bad thing that's ever happened to neon was John Mayer. Neon hints - shoes, clothing seams, belts - add an electrifying element to any ol' getup. I'd wear any time of year, of any year, as a nod to the jammin' 80s.

Perhaps this year instead of sequin-clad ensemble, go neon for NYE and show your posse how to party. The Man Repeller (above) knows what I'm talking about. besos.

Deborah Lloyd's Kiss of Life

Evidently, creative director of Kate Spade New York, Deborah Lloyd, is bringing her dreams to fruition. By that, I mean, when she took over in 2007, her goal was to expand the brand known primarily for lady's handbags in classic colors and simple, angular styles, by dipping into more vibrant color pallets with added focus on jewelry and apparel. The earring studs above are exemplary aftereffects of Lloyd's vision for her brand work to come, a

"sleeping beauty [that] needed a kiss of life."

I love a good navy and green color combination. Throw in a touch of gold and I'm sold. These earrings ($78) make me think of a boat party for some reason. Matching 3-in-1 Bangle, $248.

Classic pumps, revamped in metallic lizard skin (Metallic Karolina, $298). Stunning, and also very versatile for various occasions. Excellent Winter pick. xx

Cuffs & Molds

So, Whitney and I arrived at 6:00pm on the dot to Gusto's soiree last week... embarrassingly; however, the early birds got the worms. And by worms, I mean cuffs. As pictured above, I laid my eyes on this sparky zebra striped cuff and immediately knew it was meant to be.

...Until Whitney discovered this deep mahogany, glossy leather number... I thought that was meant to be for me, too, but you win some, you lose some.

Very cool: Gusto's emblem on the bags. They are handmade, in store, from metal sheets that they mold. Love! I also formally met (as I've certainly acquainted with before) the adorable owners, Ashley and Austin. Their passion for fashion (see what I did there) is vibrant. The "+" part of the 'A' I give them is due, in part, to bonding with Ashley over Nicole Richie - my idol.

Re-tale Therapy

After having a lovely lunch at the ever-tasty Mozelle's today (they took my tomato pie virginity - and rocked my world), some colleagues and a client introduced me to Re-tale just around the corner.

A fellow customer offered a voice of wisdom as we brushed shoulders, gently whispering "if you like, you buy it - things go fast here." I chose to ignore "other whispers" from this silver bag here above.

I was excited to learn of a new bargain shop, although I am not the usual buyer at such - I probably  need to be. I do love that "every item has a story" sentiment. We couldn't figure out what this painting was of - a candle, a fire place - but I loved the red/gold color combination. $28! Stop in and see the friendly folks at 922 Burke Street here in Winston.

Stocking Stuffer Soiree

I'm convinced I look like Albert Einstein after this crazy week and last, so C&T has gotten woefully pushed to the back burner. Until now. Quick one here just to give a heads up that Gusto and Jennifer Kaye Designs are having a Stocking Stuffer Soiree tomorrow night from 6:00 - 9:00pm. Your usual champagne will be accompanied by the festive eggnog and light hors d'oeuvres. See you then?

Oh, did I mention, 25% OFF all Stocking Stuffer items (i.e. jewelry, scarves-my favorite, soaps, candles and hair products)? As well as $25 off your next purchase when you buy your gal pal (or man friend) an $100 gift certificate? Probably see you then, now.

Run, Forest...

Someone recently told me that the #1 motivating factor for women to begin (or continue) exercising is attractive workout gear. Ridiculous as it may be, I fully comprehend - likely because I'm a little ridiculous myself. So all we need, ladies, is for Santa to bring us lots and lots of lululemon - then we will start putting in time at the gym - and voila! shed some pounds. If these bright and lively colors don't get you in the mood, I don't know what will. (Although, sounds to good to be true... and we all know what "they say" about the things that seem to good to be true...) #justsayin' It's a good thing this isn't an English paper of a blog entry today - my thesis is all over the map.

Moving along, the pants above really whet my yoga whistle. What's also entertaining, is the clever descriptive blurbs on features, i.e. "the diamond gusset lets you reach for your toes without worrying about the camel's" [chuckle]. Wunder Under Pant, $92.

I am even more into these guys, however. ("chafe-resistant flat seams ensure you don't get rubbed the wrong way") Run: For It Tight, $98.

Always been a Nike gal myself, so see above for my traditional go-tos. And now, go-to-the-gym.

Marc Madness

You'd think I was a big fan of red, what with North Carolina State University being my alma mater, but, not the case. However, the first thing I saw last week upon walking in the door at Rebecca & Co. was the most perfect red purse by the most perfect Marc Jacobs.

This bold move was an excellent decision and will always have the ability to add some fun to any and every outfit - casual or formal - both of which were tried and true this past weekend at respective dress-coded events. Also available on Shopbop ($200).

Rebecca's has quite a selection of other Marc by Marc Jacobs bags - the ideal gift this season (or any season). Give them a call at 336.750.0482 (Winston) Greensboro number below.

His new line with bird-shaped logo plates are friggin' adorable. I've also been to their newest sister store, Perch, located a short drive down I-40E in Greensboro / 336.574.3626. They, too, have lots of Marc!

Sasha Rhett

Behold. Snakeskin sensation. Dear Santa, I'd love the natural (middle) as well as the green and orange bands to switch out. Love, Marisa

Also digging the square - especially the brown Ostrich (third right). Sasha Rhett, ranging from $225-$299. Apparently the teal version was spotted on Gossip Girl...

In for a Dress, Out With Cords & Invite

The hot little red number here I found at bevello is French Connection (it appears they are having a sale on their site), probably in my top 5 favorite designers, since their cuts usually fit me like a glove (tall peoples). $168 I think. The snakeskin print Aryn K. (below) is actually cute if you can tell. I wouldn't normally pick it out, but the lovely manager, Ella, urged me to try it. With a little fashion tape and sticky cups...works!

Of course this was just the first place I stopped for wedding events this month, so more to come. Oh, and naturally then, I walked out with not a dress, but some Citizens of Humanity corduroys (obviously wedding attire). However, cords are my jam. Looks like Bloomingdale's has them on sale. Go figure.

And... see below for a fun event in which I will be making a cameo, and you should, too!

A Claim to Fame?

On the Street... Via Alserio, Milan by Sartorialist
Cute gal, stylish. Awesome photograph, naturally. Take a closer look... her wrist is clad in the birthday bracelet received by yours truly. I'm basically famous by association. Happy Hump Day!

Me Gusta Gusto

So as to not betray my tweet peoples, as promised, I'm excited to share a new (to me) shop here in downtown Winston-Salem called Gusto. After a lovely lunch at Filling Station last Wednesday, I crossed the street and popped in here. I very quickly found two pieces that earned themselves spots on my Wish List (as if that's hard to do). The first being a black leather motorcycle jacket, which is normally outside my preference parameters (got to love some good ol' alliteration), but this one has a few added elements that sparked my interest: a shiny/glossy exterior finish, cropped and fitted to my perfection (seriously, it was made for me, it's fate, I just know it), and to top it off (pun love, too) - the lines are magnificent. Its horizontally-striped seaming creates subtle dimension, while the silver, angled pocket zippers add jump-your-bones edge. $345

My second obsession is a cape, surprise (above, left). Drew, $275. A close third is this amazingly handsome fur satchel.

Uhh... have you ever seen such a fabulous shoe-chair? Speaking of shoes, they have 50% off all shoes at the moment...

Since I'm all about everything-languages, I was diggin' the Scrabble-esq jewelry. And this here belt is on sale (can't remember but definitely under $100)!

Gusto is located at 854 West 4th Street. Give them a ring at 336.529.6593.
